Free Market

Permanent Home for the Summit Free Market

The Summit Conservancy is leading a community-wide fundraising effort to build a permanent structure to house the Summit Free Market. This student-run initiative helps keep more than 100 tons of reusable material from the waste stream annually.

A permanent structure will allow Summit residents to exchange reusable items year round. Currently, Free Market events take place on two consecutive Saturdays in both the spring and fall.

PassaicTrails

Development of the Passaic River Trail System

The Summit Conservancy has partnered with the Summit Environmental Commission and Union County to develop and improve the trail system along the Passaic River in Summit.

In 2014, a $10,000 grant from the Overlook Medical Center Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative was awarded to the Conservancy to increase community awareness and use of these trails by creating a more visible entrance and improving their quality.
